The mineral quartz, also known as silicon dioxide, is a special material found anywhere on earth and used throughout the centuries. Ancient cultures, such as Egyptians, Celts, American Indians, Aztecs, all used it for various purposes, including as amulets and in skull carvings. Cultural beliefs of its properties are wide ranging from helping in the hunt for food to promoting rain.

While there are many different types of quartz, this article will discuss the clear quartz, or rock crystal. According to sciencing.com, “Quartz crystal is the most widely used crystal when it comes to conducting electricity. Its resistance to wear and heat, added to its ability to regulate  electricity, makes it a highly valuable substance for technology engineers.” From electrical devices/batteries and quartz clocks, quartz is widely used for its charging ability.

“Piezoelectricity is produced when quartz crystals generate electricity under pressure,” notes sciencing.com. “When a crystal is slightly distorted and then allowed to spring back into place, it produces a slight electrical charge, according to Lois Van Wagner of Yale University.”

Metaphysically, quartz has the full spectrum of light, making it a powerful healing and energy-providing crystal. It is used to amplify existing energy, as well as recharge any other stone type.

Some believe that legendary cities of Atlantis and Lemuria ran on quartz energy and their inhabitants stored their knowledge in quartz crystals before disappearing. While hard evidence of these quartz data storage devices has yet to be discovered, modern science has shown that it is possible to use quartz like a flash drive or other portable data storage.

In fact, the tiny 5-dimensional “Superman Memory Crystal” – created by UK scientists at the University of Southampton – records as much as 360 terabytes of data via self-assembled nanostructures created in fused quartz that can last millions or even billions of years. This sure beats the limited memory and storage length of a flash drive.

Then there are the well-documented, yet controversial, piezoelectric crystal skulls that may store information and messages from peoples of past civilizations or time periods. These skulls are often known as “cosmic libraries”.

Quartz crystals are a source of intense energy, whether used for health and healing, to power a wide range of electrical devices, or for data storage. It might be time to bring this energy in to your home or work space.
